CIJ, in partnership with International Relations and Exchanges Board (IREX) - Washington, administers the Pro Media II Program (PMP II), financed through a cooperative agreement with USAID. ProMedia II is a two-year program dedicated to professional training and assistance for Romanian Media organizations. It includes a wide range of activities, which together contribute to: strengthening the economic viability of media organizations in Romania, improving the quality of the news, creating a legal and regulatory framework that supports free speech and the rights of private media, and improving the institutions that support the professional interests of the independent media. PMP II activities also include support programs for the rights of women journalists, as well as programs for the development of curricula at journalism schools.
